Next Event: BU!
March 30, 2016

This upcoming weekend, April 2nd and 3rd, we have our second event at BU. Since WPI, we have been designing, prototyping and building solutions to improve our treads. One of these new designs added a drop sprocket to improve our turning and agility. In addition, we have improved our chain tensioners to improve our driving. We cannot wait to see our changes in action at the competition. The Chairman’s Award team has also been improving and practicing their presentation. Overall, we are psyched for competing at BU.

WPI: Winning Awards, and Competing
March 15, 2016

This past weekend we competed at our first competition at WPI. The team was very excited to present awards, talk to judges, and compete against other robots. At WPI, we won the Entrepreneurship Award. The Entrepreneurship Award recognizes a team that has an effective business plan and is able to successfully set and achieve goals. During competition our robot also performed very well. At competition we scored the most points in autonomous mode out of any team, by breaching a defense and scoring in the high goal, giving our alliance 20 points each time. We also had the second most points for shooting the ball into tower. Our shooting and autonomous skills lead us to being the first selection for the third alliance. This week the Mechanical team will work on ideas and plans to improve many parts of our robot, as even though our robot is amazing already, there is always room to improve.

This Saturday and Sunday we will be participating in our first competition at WPI. We are super excited to test out our robot and mechanisms. In addition, we hope to win some awards at the event like Chairman’s, Engineering Inspiration, Spirit Award and more. This week we have been finishing up the bumpers and other last details on the robot. As well, the Chairman’s presenters have been practicing their presentation for the judges. We feel really good about this season and can not wait to compete in our first competition at WPI. See details here. Competition starts on Saturday, March 12th at 9am and ends on Sunday, March 13th at 5pm.

Second Robot

Build season is finished and we have continued to work hard on finishing the second robot. The chassis is done and most of the electronics are mounted and wired. We just need to put on the treads before we can drive. In addition, programming has been working on the vision code for shooting. On Thursday, the 3rd, the Ligerbots were at newton north high school for student night. Everything is looking great and we can not wait for our first competition next week at WPI!

Build Season: Coming to an End

Robot 2016

Build season finishes this Tuesday, February 23rd. We worked very hard on the robot last week, gaining a ton of progress on many of our goals. This year we worked hard on designing some awesome mechanisms to work with the different defenses – creating a very interesting robot. We have had a great build season and cannot wait for our first competition in early March. Currently we are putting on the final touches before we bag it tomorrow. Last Sunday, we went to a BU practice field to test many of our parts, and get some driving practice.

The business team worked hard on creating graphics, finalizing projects, and working on prestigious awards such as the Chairman’s Award. They also finalized the design of our iconic tie-dye t-shirt for this year. The whole team has been working very hard on many different projects this build season with the team creating many well-polished designs, projects, and pitches.
