The LigerBots are Newton's all-city FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team composed of members from both Newton North and South High Schools. During competition season, students design and build a complex robot to play a new game with a strict 6 week time limit and then compete with that robot in local and regional competitions. Outside of competitions, the team focuses on building technical and 21st century communications, collaboration and leadership skills for team members. In addition, the LigerBots serve as the focal point for project-based learning, participating in STEM outreach in the community to inspire others. Team activities include mentoring younger students in FIRST LEGO League (FLL), appearing at science fairs and community events, and corporate tech events as well as hosting FLL competitions and maker fairs to inspire younger students and the entire community. The LigerBots are proud of the team they have built in the last ten years - garnering recognition for success in developing a range of skills, from Engineering Inspiration to Imagery to Entrepreneurship to Gracious Professionalism. To support the team, use one of the “Donate” buttons above, message the team on Facebook, or email [email protected] if you are a corporate sponsor.
Now's your chance to support the future engineers and entrepreneurs of Massachusetts. FIRST FRC is a fantastic program promoting STEM education, but building the robot and attending the competitions is quite expensive. Please consider donating to support the LigerBots in their return to the World Championships.
